Hi,
does DOORS provide a function to display the date of the last login of a user?
I couldn't find one in the reference manual..
Any help appreciated :-)
Regards,
Manuel

yes, the login history file has all attempted and successful logins. Its only available on the server and not accessible to clients.
You could very realistically run a DXL on the server every night that plows through the LoginHistory file extracting the last login date, and have it set a new 'user properties' for each user, perhaps a 'LastLoginDate' variable. See section 'Group and user management'. Its confusing, there is a function 'isAttribute' as well as a few nearby 'property' commands. Anyway, from a client you would then write a DXL to display that information.

I had the same problem of trying to find the last login date of a user.
I used to collect the "LoginHistory.txt" file from the IT admins once every month. The text file is converted to an Excel spreadsheet and then I used to run a macro, scanning the worksheet from the last entry upwards until it stops at the row where the specific user has logged in.
This was specially useful to find out when a specific user has logged in last and decide whether to retain the user in the users list.

I've already gathered the LoginHistory files i could get from the IT, would it be possible that you send me that macro?

Hi Manuel,
I am attaching the file containing the macro for the Excel worksheet. There are a couple of things you should note:
1. In the DOORS Login History files, the date is a concatenation of columns 2, 3 and 5.
2. In our case, the user name is in col 10 (First Name) and col 11 (Last Name). For LDAP system users, you may find it in just one column. Then the macro is to be modified.
3. The maximum number of columns for the Login History files is 13 (mostly 12). I used the cols 14 and 15 to
record the summary of user names and the latest login dates.
I hope that you will find it useful.

Where exactly is the LoginHistory.txt file located?
Our IT department couldn't find it on our DOORS Server.
Thank you for your help.

Hi Rick,
You can find the path in DOORS Help topic "Understanding the login history file":
The database server logs the information in a text file called login_history.txt. This file is stored in <server_data_folder>\v6data\logs.
On Windows, the ServerData entry in the registry (default location HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Telelogic\DOORS_Server\9.0\Config) points to the location of the server data.

Manuel
